Forest School is a fantastic way to get children excited about the world outside their door, to awaken their curiosity, inspiring them to ask ever more questions and look for ever more answers.

Mary will unveil the development of Irish lace focussing on the years after An Gorta Mór, the Great Famine, when communities around Ireland clung to life quite literally by a thread. Children will have the opportunity to unravel the story of Irish lace, and try their hands at recreating some of it in class.

Chris uses ancient Irish folklore to teach students real biodiversity-related skills.

Carol is passionate about our natural world where ‘nature is the teacher'. Being outside helps us to connect with nature and the passing seasons, where we can engage with our cultural heritage through natural crafts, song, stories and folklore, games and place-based learning. Carol offers forest school programmes, nature walks and traditional craft sessions.

Mary is an experienced primary school teacher, beekeeper, gardener, musician and wildlife enthusiast. On a visit to your school Mary will engage and inspire pupils to learn about, appreciate and care for their own local environment.

As an environmental scientist Robin specialises in themes such as water conservation, biodiversity and the effects of climate change on our landscapes and seascapes. He also covers areas such as marine biology and identification of Irish flora and fauna such as trees and pollinators.

Órla’s virtual workshop Drawing from Nature explores and investigates Hedgerows as habitats through visual art and outdoor learning.

Órla offers engaging, hands-on workshops and projects that link nature, art, and creativity. In each visit Órla uses the natural environment to stimulate children’s curiosity and creativity through visual art and outdoor learning. .

Michael’s workshops bring the world of Irish wildlife, birds, woodlands, bogs, sea-life and mini-beasts directly into the classroom for the children. He can custom design the activities to suit the needs of each class but his workshops usually include engaging and illustrated talks, school ground field-studies and fun worksheets and games.

Nature is a place that rouses curiosity and spontaneous activity, a multisensory classroom and a real-life science lab like no other! Active learning in nature helps to develop the skills children need for a lifetime of learning presented in a fun and enjoyable way.

Heather’s visits help pupils learn about the local environment and discover the flora and fauna of the local area, including the school grounds.

Jenny’s visits combine nature and art in engaging, hands-on workshops that explore the natural environment throughout the seasons, to create a real connection with our surroundings. The workshops combine indoor and outdoor explorations that can be adapted and tailored to meet the group's needs.

Anne is an experienced primary teacher with a lifelong passion for geology, archaeology, history, heritage and the environment. Visits can incorporate fieldtrips to local sites of geological, archaeological historical or environmental interest.

Eamonn's visits will explore local history and geography in Co. Longford . Children will visit locations in county Longford close to their home and throughout the county.

Maura Brennan is a forest school practitioner with a background in traditional craft ,environmental art and plant medicine.
