Luana Jungmann is a Marine Conservationist and Environmental Educator, who has travelled the world discovering different cultures and dealing with a variety of marine conservation topics. Her background in marine biology and teaching inspired her to become involved in marine education to share information collected by scientists to the public in a fun way. Through voluntary work with the Irish Whale and Dolphin Group Luana developed a Marine Biologist Day which provided children between 8 and 12 years with an insight into marine mammal ecology and conservation and the daily activities an Irish Marine Biologist performs.
A visit to your school from Luana is a great opportunity for children to learn about their marine environment, the diversity and abundance of Ireland's marine mammal species, to understand conservation issues and solutions and to be direct guardians of our precious Irish heritage. Some activities will take place outdoors and Luana will aim provide children with basic scientific skills.
During her school visits Luana aims to bring a sense of wonder and excitement about Ireland's marine mammal heritage to children in the hope that they will be encouraged to become involved in marine conservation efforts.
"Luana is passionate above marine biology and shared this passion beautifully with the students and engaged them very well." - Sylane NS, Galway
