Caitríona is a fully qualified Primary School Teacher and Zoologist. Having worked both in the classroom and for a number of environmental organisations Caitríona develops and facilitates nature related teacher CPD courses.

Caitríona runs ‘Biodiversity in Schools’, a project whose aim is to teach children all across Ireland about biodiversity and get them actively involved in Irish nature conservation.

School visits can cover a broad range of topics from birds to bees, creepy crawlies to trees, and everything in between! Workshops blend interactive slideshows, practical conservation crafts, fun props and outdoor exploration and as with everything we do we aim to keep things simple, fun and sciencey! Schools can also get involved in our annual nature conservation initiatives, such as our Pollinator Project. For schools just starting out on their nature work we have recently launched a new workshop called the "Biodiversity Bootcamp". All workshop info is available here.

The 'Biodiversity in Schools' website is also a fantastic tool for teachers providing extensive resources on school projects, biodiversity facts and case study inspiration (www.biodiversityinschools.com).
