Karina is an ecologist with over 20 years of working with children both in schools, school grounds and outdoors. She is particularly passionate about biodiversity, pollinators (bees and butterflies), and Irish mammals.
Karina has experience of helping schools complete biodiversity audits and action plans to improve the biodiversity of their schools grounds (ideal for schools completing their Biodiversity Green Flag). She has also helped schools develop wildlife, pollinator and vegetables gardens.
Karina likes to take the children outdoors to complete hands-on-activities as well as working with them in the classroom. This can be done in the school grounds or local wildlife site (such as park, hedgerow, woodland etc.). Classroom activities may include introductory talks, and more creative hand-on activities after the outdoor sessions. Outdoor sessions may include fun bee and butterfly activities, bug hunts, natural treasure hunts, biodiversity audits and hedgerow surveys.
Visits can be tailored to fit the needs of each individual school and classes.
