From a very early age it is important to give children a sense of belonging: to a family; a community and a country - a sense of place that they can relate to and be proud of.

In-person school visits

Trudy explains what life was like for a child in the 1950's and how it compares to life for a child in the 2020's.

Trudy helps the children put together their family and community story, in particular looking at life in post war Ireland when most of their grandparents and great grandparents were their age. What was happening locally, nationally and internationally at this time? How did their town/village/school evolve? What was life and school like in times gone past?

Trudy includes a show and tell with artefacts relating to these times e.g: children’s books and stories their grandparents and great grandparents may have read; food they may have eaten; ration books; music they listened to and games they may have played. The children can have some fun using their imagination playing these games.
