Helena is an experienced Irish artisan with a deep-rooted passion for basketry, nature, foraging and weaving. With years of teaching various forms of basketry and craft, she brings the essence of sustainable, eco friendly, Irish craft to your fingertips and helps children to connect with their natural environment.

Using sustainably grown willow, learn how to weave your own basket just as your ancestors did. Baskets were used for storing and carrying food and fuel and they are becoming very popular again as we try to reduce the amount of plastic that we use.

Using the plants and foliage that surround us here in Ireland, lets get creative and make a range of fun and functional handmade items.

Create a natural, growing willow structure in your school garden – get designing, measuring, planning and planting to create a tunnel, arch or dome. Enjoy the rustle of the wind in the willows as your willow structure comes to life. Dec – Feb is planting time.
