By connecting science with local heritage, workshops encourage students to read the landscape around them, recognise change over time and understand how biodiversity is shaped by the habitats we create, lose and restore. From historical maps to sweep nets, students discover, value and protect the biodiversity around them.

Primary school visits

A workshop to help children to recognise wildlife and habitats and empower them with the skills and confidence to make a real difference in a biodiversity crisis.

Every event can be tailored to the needs of the pupils, the local environment, and the weather on the day! Is feidir gach rud scríobhta agus labhartha a bheith i nGaeilge nó I mBéarla!

A Workshop unlocking the history and geography hiding in our maps, and how they show the changes to biodiversity and built heritage through to present day.

Every event can be tailored to the needs of the pupils, the local environment and the weather on the day! Is feidir gach rud scríobhta agus labhartha a bheith i nGaeilge nó i mBéarla!

A visit to a built heritage habitat, e.g. a local old graveyard, country house or castle grounds (e.g. Cruagh Graveyard, Marley Park house) and see how habitats can work for humans and wildlife.

Every event can be tailored to the needs of the pupils, the local environment and the weather on the day! Is feidir gach rud scríobhta agus labhartha a bheith i nGaeilge nó i mBéarla!

A Shorter MYTH BUSTER workshop that can be standalone or combined with other segments to embolden students to put their grown-ups right on what is needed to save our planet! Positive and solution driven!

Every event can be tailored to the needs of the pupils, the local environment and the weather on the day! Is feidir gach rud scríobhta agus labhartha a bheith i nGaeilge nó i mBéarla!

Post-primary school visits

Students discover the extraordinary biodiversity around their school by investigating wildlife using field observation, sweep nets and citizen science. They’ll explore food webs, habitat change and ecosystem health while learning how small green spaces can support remarkable
biodiversity and how simple actions can protect it.

Using historical maps, geology, fossil knowledge, placenames and local history, students investigate how Ireland's landscapes and habitats have changed from deep geological time to the present day, and how these changes have shaped biodiversity. Field observation helps students interpret their locality and value the importance of protecting remaining biodiverse habitats.

Students experience the survey techniques used in biodiversity monitoring and citizen science while collecting real ecological data. Activities may include pollinator monitoring, freshwater and marine ecology, pond dipping, habitat surveys and earthworm surveys. Students
explore the impacts of habitat loss and practical ways to protect and restore habitats for wildlife.
