All about potatoes:
Roisín Cotter
Growing potatoes are a huge part of our heritage. Knowing about their origins and how this one crop changed the whole history of our country is such an important part of our national story.
Learning how to grow potatoes is a skill for life and a small step in increasing the sustainability of our everyday lives. Even one small change like growing some of your own food will have an enormous impact on sustainability. If every household in Ireland grew just one bed of potatoes, we could not only increase our health and well-being, but make a significant dent in our national food waste and carbon emissions.
Suited to children from 3rd to 6th class.
