Youghal Clock Gate Tower

The Tour will take approximately 1 hour with easy access from the town centre and coach parking available and teachers go free on all tours. Youghal Clock Gate Tower has many stories to tell, we have developed an interactive character tour especially for children. This tour draws on the current history curriculum ensuring participation and engagement by all the children and incorporates the art of storytelling. Our trained guide will take the children through 700 years of history told over 4 floors. They will learn about rebels, merchants, pirates and gaolers. The tour is age appropriate and incorporates the exploration of continuity and change over time in homes and housing, energy & power and also the plight of prisoners in the gaol in the 19^th century and a view of the prison system in Ireland at that time. The Booklet may be used in the class room as a follow-up lesson to the visit.
