St Connells – Glenties Heritage Museum
Take a step back in time at the Glenties museum and heritage centre.
The museum houses a unique collection of artifacts from the local area as well as historical information about the Glenties area. The aim is to preserve something of the history, customs and traditions of the area.
The museum aims are to keep safe from loss local historical information as well of artifacts of interest to locals and visitors alike.
A large collection of interesting memorabilia, photographs, documents, books, videos etc has been gathered and assembled into a variety of exhibitions.
The Ground Floor houses an information desk and an area devoted to St Connell who brought Christianity to the area. There is also an area devoted to ‘Old Glenties’ and a wide collection of artifacts and wildlife exhibition.
The Donegal Railway is remembered in it’s own area in the museum.
On the top floor of the museum are valuable collections from internationally renowned authors such as Brian Friel and patrick McGill.
