Kerry County Museum

Winner of many prestigious awards, the Museum provides a wide range of permanent displays, special exhibitions and events for the enjoyment of locals and tourists alike. Exhibition highlights include Casement in Kerry: A Revolutionary Journey, the Main Gallery illustrating the turbulent history of the county, as well as the Tom Crean Polar Room, the Archaeology Hall and the Medieval Experience, a stroll through a reconstructed streetscape complete with the sounds and smells of a bustling medieval market town.

Kerry County Museum, recipient of the prestigious Sandford Award in Heritage Education in 2015, offers an extensive primary and secondary schools programme. Teachers can choose from a a wide range of activities from guided tours, tactile workshops, handling collections, outreach visits and spectacular seasonal events to short and long-term projects including Museum Takeover and ARTiculation Ireland. In 2020, Kerry County Museum has launched two new online competitions in conjunction with the Kerry Archaeological and Historical Society: Explore your Local Heritage, a competition for primary schools and The Kerry Young Historian Award, an annual outreach project for Secondary Schools.
