Ballinafid (proposed Natural Heritage Area)

The habitat in Ballinafid ranges from reed swamp to fen wetland, bog and woodland. The main tree species here are scotts pine, birch and willow. The site is home to one of the most interesting and diverse range of invertebrates in Ireland. A looped walk on track and board walk brings you through woodland and bog.


Visiting

Ballinafid is an NPWS owned site to the west of Ballinafid Lake.
