Steffi is a qualified ecologist, environmental scientist and an accomplished craft worker. Her main areas of expertise are Irish rush- and straw craft, rope making, traditional woodwork and heritage gardening. Steffi works in three schools in Sligo, teaching arts/crafts and gardening.

Joan brings her horticultural qualifications, passion and expertise of ‘one score years' to a hands-on, practical approach to natural heritage & biodiversity education in schools through organic gardening practices, with a special focus on restoring the relationship and sense of connection for children with native plants & trees and other wildlife.

Auriel is a professional archaeologist and geographer. She is also passionate about nature and marine environments. She teaches about archaeological and historical heritage sites and landscapes, geology, and marine/coastal heritage.

David and Cat are marine biologists and divers who use their enthusiasm and knowledge of all things ocean to bring the ocean to land and to life in the classroom and on shore visits!

Johnny teaches woodworking skills, studying trees, wood and their uses. He offers visits around textiles and spinning where children study and work with various fibers and materials . The pupils will learn to spin a thread and weave on a board loom.

Siobhán's 'Creative by Nature' workshops and field trips encourage a sense of wonder about the natural world; the web of life and our ancestors' traditional use of natural materials. Her workshops inspire curiosity and build a connection to natural environments through nature-based games and forest school activities.

Barbara facilitates nature based activities such as nature awareness games, nature crafts, bug hunts, schoolyard species identification workshops, scavenger hunts, and learning about historical use of natural materials - and many other Forest School inspired activities.

During Dave’s school visit, Irish archaeology is animated for the children as they experience an engaging demonstration on domestic and military life during a given historical period as chosen by the school. Approximately 100 artefacts are displayed in the classroom turning the school into a veritable museum for the day!

As part of the themed virtual visits the children will get involved in practical, hands-on activities such as planning and designing an outdoor classroom as well as sowing seeds and growing potatoes.

Chris is a registered teacher with a specialization in educational drama and has designed and delivered a range of local history, intergenerational and environmental projects.

Liz is a nature specialist who has been working in biodiversity education for many years. Her biodiversity sessions and native Irish tree sessions are the result of a lifelong passion and are an awe-inspiring way for children to learn and connect with nature.

Dara is passionate about freshwater ecology and has been engaging with students of all ages for over 15 years. He provides interactive, hands-on aquatic workshops, where children can explore the biodiversity of their local streams, rivers and lakes.

A lifelong interest in our native trees, wild flowers, birds, minibeasts, and other animals and their habitats has led Catherine to experience the pleasure and wonder of the natural world and to consider these questions: What is biodiversity? Why is it important? Have we got it? How can we improve it around our school and locality?

Rachel specialises in delivering traditional/sean nós singing/storytelling, culture & heritage workshops for all ages in a creative way.

Shazia offers fun and interactive workshops exploring biodiversity – what it is, why it is important and how to protect it. Whether investigating the marine environment or life on your doorstep in woods and gardens, Shazia will bring nature to the classroom or even better get the children outdoors exploring their local biodiversity.

Johanna specialises in nature connection activities through Forest School, Forest Bathing, foraging and nature journaling. Children enjoy a hands on experience of nature based activities, encouraging wonder and learning. Tailor made nature based workshops can be held on the school grounds or indoors, or at a nearby natural setting.

Kerry is a passionate forest school leader and nature therapy guide. She enjoys reconnecting children to the natural world through games, crafts and stories.

Mary is a visual artist who engages children with their artistic and cultural heritage through fun art programmes, workshops and murals. She uses a broad range of art media and covers diverse themes to inspire and stimulate their ideas and creativity.

Ross has extensive experience running forest school and bushcraft sessions for primary school children. He delivers biodiversity lessons, Green-Schools initiatives, 'Get Active Week' activities, introducing children to foraging and woodland conservation and native tree planting. Ross brings natural history, nature connection, hands on play and exploration through forest school, foraging walks and natural crafts.
