The emphasis of Stephanie's visit is on promoting an understanding of the life-cycle of plants and animals and the dependence of each part of the cycle on each other. Local water-cycles, food-webs and Salmon life-cycles are discussed and investigated through questions and answers, games and visits to a local river or stream (if available). Here, the children are given an opportunity to identify local plants and animals and differentiate between native and introduced species. They are also introduced to simple techniques to identify the water purity of the stream and to methods for conserving water.

  • "Stephanie provides an interactive absorbing workshop that she very cleverly tailors to all age groups. The pupils of Coolick eagerly get involved and were delighted to learn about their own local river. This is education in it’s pure form, local, involved, active, tailored to the child’s age and relevant. Parents were also very supportive of this workshop and reminisced on days spent catching bods at the exact spot Stephanie used. They took great joy in seeing their children returning to the same area enjoying the same, though far more thorough, activity."
