Book in-person visit

Sorcha works as a Conservation and Education Officer with the Irish Peatland Conservation Council. Workshops explore Ireland’s peatlands through active learning and hands-on activities either in the classroom or through a visit to a local peatland.

Discover the peatlands of Ireland in the classroom, or through a visit to a local peatland. Students will learn about the different types of peatlands in Ireland and demonstrate how a bog is formed by making a ‘bog in a bottle’. Bogland wildlife will be explored through a bog plant identification activity and an investigation of a sample of live freshwater invertebrates. The archaeology of bogs and the importance of bogs in climate regulation will also be introduced.
