Dale is well known on the Scheme for his boundless enthusiasm for all things in the world of nature. Dales visits introduce the children to the 5 Bs of Biodiversity: bugs; butterflies; bees; bats and birds through interactive, fun and hands-on activities. Dale also undertakes the Pollinator Project with the children, with Dale providing plants and assisting the children in the creation of their very own garden for butterflies and bees. Dale has worked with the Australian National Parks and Wildlife Service and presented on childrens television in Ireland for 10 years. He is also the designer of two Bloom childrens garden features entitled - Muck and Magic and Gondwanaland Dinosaurs. Dale is the author of Harry the Hedgehog will you be my friend? and Robby the Christmas Robin.

Dinosaurs are always a favourite topic and this year Dale will bring them to life in your own classroom.

Dale is the author of a series of children’s wildlife books and as part of any presentation will launch into engaging renditions of these and other prose to link subjects and engage different age groupings. Presentations are mixed with practical games such as foodwebs, bats, moths, etc.

Dale designed and built two children’s gardens at Bloom and wishes to encourage schools to create their own wildlife havens with the school grounds. Plants are provided free of charge and areas within the school grounds cultivated with hands on practical activities to encourage participation in creating habitat both planted built for native pollinators.

School grounds and surrounding areas are utilized for minibeast safaris and insect in tree activities using bug viewers and microscopes etc.

Dale’s work before coming to Ireland was in rainforest restoration and one of his early Irish roles was as a Millenium Urban Forestry Officer. Trees are a lifelong passion and Dale can help identify trees in the school garden. He delights in teaching children how to use identification keys and has his own tree nursery so can provide trees free of charge for school plantings.

A walk in the woods or a day pond dipping the bog or a local canal are a specialty and an adventure when guided by Dale, with a mix of his activities, story telling and easy to learn identification skills.

Dale can take pupils on a journey back in time to learn about Dinosaurs and other cretaceous creatures, with life-like puppets and really cool fossils to touch and feel!!!

Dale and Nathan show demonstrate how to construct a solitary bee hotel from materials you'll find at home.
