Seamus Heaney: Listen Now Again
Seamus Heaney was one of Ireland’s greatest writers, a winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature and a much-loved and respected figure, both in Ireland and abroad. His ability to transform the ordinary aspects of Irish life, such as turf-cutting and peeling potatoes, into the extraordinary, while also engaging with global issues of politics and justice have set him apart as a key cultural figure of the 20th century.
This exhibition draws on the rich archive that Heaney and his family donated to the National Library of Ireland in 2011. It is divided into four sections, Excavations, Creativity, Conscience and Marvels and follows the journey of Heaney's life from his childhood to his later years and legacy. For primary schools we offer guided tours which link to the English, Geography and History curriculum strands.
To book a tour please contact heaneyexhibition@nli.ie or call 01 6706153.
This exhibition is free of charge and is located in the Bank of Ireland Cultural and Heritage Centre, Westmoreland Street, Dublin 2.
