Examining Ireland's offshore waters, Patrick will explore with pupils the size of Irelands offshore area and look briefly at the different environments before looking at some of the variety of animals that live there. A few animals will then be selected for closer examination and Patrick will work with pupils to allow them to describe what these animals look like.

Concepts such as size and distance can be examined through looking at animal anatomy and migration routes. The concept of animal migration can be used to introduce concepts of geography, while animal communication can be used to introduce concepts of sound at a level appropriate to the age group.
