Eileen's class visits encourage the pupils' innate curiosity about nature through a mixture of outdoor exploration and classroom-based games. Eileen has been working in primary schools for over five years and has built up great experience of providing fun and educational experiences to children. The pupils learn about ecosystems through site visits to local habitats of interest, using simple scientific sampling and interactive nature-based games.
Popular games include 'the bat amp; the moth', 'the hawk amp; the chick' and 'find a family', these games allow the children to learn about predator/ prey relationships in the wild.
The 'mini-beast hunt' allows the children to investigate the world of insects through a quest to find as many different species as possible! On returning to the classroom, the pupils interpret what they have seen and found through drawing, poems and playing indoor games such as 'be a tree'. The class also discuss plant and animal lifecycles, different habitat types, seed production and dispersion, and energy cycles.
