Bill’s visits provide an introduction to the underwater world of the sea through engaging slide-shows, demonstrations and field trips to the seashore, rivers or lakes. Here, the children get to explore the fascinating variety of insects, plants and flowers and the relationship between them all in these delicate environments.
Bill has a Degree in Zoology, a PhD in Marine Research and lectured in Aquaculture at the Shellfish Research Laboratory, Galway for six years before moving to the Institute of Technology, Sligo to teach Environmental Science for the last 15 years. He is also a diving instructor having dived for 30 years.
"We loved the visit - it was really informative and the teachers would highly recommend Bill to other schools."
"Fantastic day. Bill was superb and he had a huge amount of resources and materials to show the children. He was so enthusiastic. The children thoroughly enjoyed the day. They learnt so much. This is my first experience of Heritage In Schools - I will do it again in the future and I will highly recommend a similar visit to my colleagues in other schools. Thank you so much. Thanks to Bill who made the day for us all."
"We really enjoyed Bill's visit. His presentation was lively and engaging and the pupils learned so much from him. He brought many interesting sea creatures and items of interest from the ocean and pupils were able to examine many creatures under a microscope. I feel that Bill put a huge amount of effort into this presentation. As he is an experienced diver he gave lots of information about this which was very interesting."
"Excellent knowledge of the seashore and underwater sea life. Great rapport with the children. A very positive and enjoyable experience for them all." - High Park N.S
"Visit was very informative and pupils enjoyed our trip to the rocky shore to see various plants and marine life in their own habitat."
