Like many organisations, the Heritage Council is considering its role and particularly the role of its programmes in contributing to societal recovery from the impacts of COVID-19. Public health is paramount, and the approach to all Heritage Council programmes must ensure that its activities are not a risk to the health of the general population.
The Heritage in Schools Scheme must comply with public health guidance for the safety of the Heritage in Schools Experts, students and teachers so the Council is working on how to modify the Heritage in Schools Scheme for the safe return to school during autumn term 2020.
We will work within the guidance from the Department of Education and Skills, while also consulting with school principals, the INTO, and Heritage Specialists. Once the feedback and guidance has been taken into account, the Council will advise on how the Scheme can be rolled out.
